For people seeking a small place to own a vacation home and have a taste of Mexico; Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo can be a great destination The construction of Ixtapa initiated in the 1970's, since then it has grown extensively and has become an attractive sight and destination for many people. The abundant vegetation, the blue ocean, and the clear skies plus the geographic and climatic conditions have made this area extremely attractive for Mexicans as well as foreigners to invest in a piece of land, a house or a villa to spend their leisure time. The tropical climate is extraordinary with no sudden changes in temperature. The marinelife is enormous. If you go out on a boat trip you can easily spot dolphins, turtles and small fish along the way. There are many iguanas and crocodiles and it is also easy to spot a variety of birds such as pelicans, macaws and parrots. If you hike in nearby hills you could find exotic animals such as deer, panthers and tecuanes. There are numerous beaches some of them very secluded, others within developments and the hotel zone. Every beach has their own particular story; Las Gatas, La Madera, La Ropa just to mention a few.
The tropical vegetation brings colorful flowers and green plants everywhere you look around; palm tress, plantains, bird of paradise, white iris and bertas, and fabulous cactus flowers just to mention some. In comparison with Ixtapa; Zihuatenjo has still a rustic setting. You can see a bicycle taxi or someone asleep in a hammock just outside their home. You will find local markets, banks, internet cafes and prices will be a little lower than Ixtapa. Gastronomy in Ixtapa- Zihuatenejo consists mainly of local seafood products. Shrimp cocktail, pescado a la talla, octopus prepared in its ink, ceviche, camaronillas and the famous raw clams of Zihuatanejo prepared with lemon juice and hot sauce. Of course there is a wide choice of restaurants available to please the costumers. They range from very rustic to very sophisticated and expensive. Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo is still expanding and developers are seeking for land and special spots with wonderful views to build villas, apartments and open space housing for the demanding clientele. Porto Ixtapa and Punta Ixtapa are examples of some of the existing developments. Each of them includes all the needed amenities for the owners; a Marina, swimming pools, restaurants, tennis courts and even private beaches. New developments are on their way as well as condo buildings in the hotel zone area and other areas nearby. ( Cerro el Vigia, Desarrollo la Majahua, Villas Naivi, hotel and Condominiums Intrawest) Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo is a great option as it is still rather secluded. You can choose the highway via Acapulco or via Morelia- Michoacan. There are daily flights from Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey as well as flights from the United States via Continental Airlines. There is also a first class bus service from Mexico City, Morelia and Acapulco |
